I sit miles away from you my brother,
My childhood memories are knocking at my door.
Reminding me when our house was full,
With all my aunts and sisters coming home,
Hands full of sacred threads, eating together and no one alone.
So much fun, gaiety and innocence abound,
In small gestures happiness was found.
Today the families have become smaller in size,
Urbanization and careers and less family time.
But the festival of Rakhi since ages and every year.
Is a reminder of love and good cheer!
Draupadi prayed to Krishna and he saved her honor,
King of Nepal gave refuge to Maharani Jindan Kaur and kept his word of honor.
Humayun sent his armies to defend Rani Karnavati and Chittor,
Tagore made Muslims and Hindus tie Rakhi to fight British atrocity and uproar.
The times may have changed undoubtedly,
Priorities different and stress levels up immensely,
